Cambridge Women’s Center
The Cambridge Women’s Center is the oldest community-based center for women in the United States, it provides a supportive community space for all women by offering opportunities for empowerment, learning, healing, trauma support, and understanding. Studio Borges was brought into this project to create a beautiful and healing environment for women who are often under served and working through complex trauma challenges. The foundation of our work in this project was based on the principles of Trauma Informed Design. We gave great thought to every finish, fixture, furnishing and material selection to ensure the outcome was a space that promoted safety, healing, dignity and empowerment. This award winning renovation by Opus Master Builders brought this 1850’s historic Cambridge residence up to complete ADA compliance. Our team handled all aspects of the interior design on this project, including materials and finish selections, custom millwork design throughout and accessible furnishings.
