When I called a friend I’ve known since college, he has exquisite taste, to find out if anyone in his network could recommend a designer, he proposed only one name, Thiara Borges. He said that two of his siblings in the Boston area, with very different tastes and homes, both had great success with Thiara.
It was singularly the best reference I have ever had. I looked at some of her work online and appreciated her ability to do eclectic combinations. I found her designs creative, joyful, and visually delightful. I had just moved my mother out of the ancestral home and had “adopted” too many family heirlooms. I knew some of these pieces were going to be very easy to use and some were going to be a challenge to repurpose.

What is perhaps the most amazing benefit of working with Thiara, is that she absolutely knows the highest-quality artisans, fabricators, and solution providers for any home improvement challenge. Thiara has a wonderful team of art framers, furniture repair people, custom acrylic fabricators, TLC movers, etc. I left my keys to the loft with Thiara, while I was away for a month. When I returned, I found all my dozen pieces of custom art gorgeously displayed. Not sure how it was done, but it was done properly placed even on brick walls. Her decades of testing and assessing the quality of tradespeople saved me time and money.
Thiara is a keen observer and listened to my preferences and took my tastes and my aesthetics and upgraded them. When she proposed something, I usually thought if only I had decades of experience, I hope that I would have found the same piece on my own. But alas, I had a different career and a different life. I am just simply grateful I made the call to my friend from college and he had the good fortune to have siblings with great wisdom.

We partnered to create a space that was unique, colorful, and full of character while still reflecting my personal aesthetic.
